A lovely sunny week
Friday 28 Sep 2018
This week in Year 1 we have started looking at the story of the Gingerbread Man. The children have used actions to learn the story and they have shown their understanding by plotting the story onto a story map.
They have also done some fantastic independent writing, writing a phrase from the story. See if they can remember and tell you which part of the story it was.
In Math’s we have continued our number work by identifying numbers which are 1 more and 1 less. Today we have moved onto counting on in 2’s from a given number. They have used 2p’s, that they put into a purse to help them with their counting. If you have any loose change at home maybe they could have a go and wow you too.
In Science we have adopted a class tree. They took a shine to many of the school trees but sensibly voted on their favourite. We shall be looking at how their tree changes over the seasons. They did some beautiful drawings of the tree. They might want to photograph or draw a tree at home too.
You will have received their purple spellings books home today. If they have struggled with any of the words they will be highlighted for you. They had a really positive attitude ad all had a really good go. The average spelling score for each class will be read out in Monday’s assembly and the wining class will be announced.
We wish you all a lovely weekend.
