A wet and windy week
Thursday 20 Sep 2018
This week we have started our topic on Weather and we can only apologise for all the rain we have caused. The weather went downhill when we decided to make umbrella pictures. They really are very good but wouldn’t help with the rain we have had.
In Science we have continued to investigate Seasonal Changes by sorting pictures related to the different seasons. We have also enjoyed learning songs about the seasons.
In Literacy this week we have been learning about the body and the senses. We have looked at labelling drawings. This is a skill that the children often find tricky and some how manage to perfect the impossible skill of writing in reverse. They worked really hard correctly linking the words to the correct part of the drawings and did some fantastic cursive writing.
You should have received your first weeks spellings today in a purple spelling book. Please take a moment to read the note on the inside cover. Please can we remind you to send the books back into school on Thursday so that we can stick in the new spellings ready for returning on Friday.
In Maths we have been looking at 1 more and 1 less than a given number. They have worked really hard using number lines and counters to help. Mr Stones visited Y1PL today and was incredibly impressed by their number work and positive attitude to their learning.
Thank you once again for attending our Meet the Teacher meeting. It was lovely to meet you and have the opportunity to talk to you. Please feel free to pop in if you have any further questions. We shall be putting some links to the meeting onto the website shortly.
We hope you have an enjoyable weekend and manage to dodge the 3pm downpours!
