Freezing Friday! Brrrrrrrrrrr 27.1.17

How cold is it???
A few quick messages:
- Our playground is rather exposed and gets particularly cold so please ensure your child is wrapped up warm and has a hat and some thick gloves.
-  It is the season of runny noses so any contributions of boxes of tissues would be greatly appreciated for the classrooms.
- Please ensure your child has a non-leak water bottle, as many of our reading books are getting water damaged.
- Large ruck sacks (e.g Smiggle)  are causing a tripping hazard in our cloakroom, as we do not have space to store them.  If possible, please send your child to school with just a book bag, as these can be kept in their trays.
- If anyone has any old school uniform that they could donate to our spare clothing cupboard, we would be grateful for it.  We are particularly short of boys trousers!
- Children in  Y2W need an empty shoe box for a science project at the end of next week.  If you have more than one, the spares would be useful.
- Sample work book/packs were sent home, after the meeting on Monday, for your information only.  They do not need to be completed and returned.  However, it would be fantastic if you could work through these booklets, with your child,  over February half term as additional homework.

In Art we braved the cold and did some observational drawings in the school grounds.

As part of our Literacy topic on letter writing, Mr Watkinson (Sophie's dad) kindly volunteered to give up his time and come in to school to talk to us about his job at The Royal Mail.  We had lots of questions for him and he brought lots of interesting things to show us!

In Maths, we have continued our work on measuring and have been outside to put our skills into practice!

Finally, we would like to wish everyone a Happy Chinese New Year and a special thanks goes to Lydia for teaching us so much about it
