Friday 16th September
Friday 16 Sep 2016
Thank you to all parents and carers who attended our Y2 Welcome Meeting on Wednesday. We hope you found it useful. Hand outs have been sent home, via the children, to those not able to attend.
This week we have written our stories about a creature with a problem that lives under the stairs. We have had some extremely imaginative ideas! Next week in Literacy we will be starting a unit of work all about traditional tales. Why not read some this weekend?
In Numeracy we have continued with our work on place value and have been counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and discussing the term 'multiple'. We were multiple detectives and found ways of identifying these multiples without having to count from 0. Why not ask your child if they can remember how! Next week we will be looking at the value of the digits in 2 digit numbers and we will be placing them on number lines, as well as making and comparing numbers with Numicon.
We have been testing the children on the Year 1 common exception words and will send copies of the results home to you next week, in the hope that you can help your child to learn them. The highlighted words are words that your child spelt correctly, so please focus on the unhighlighted words with them.
The children enjoyed their first 'multi skills' session, with coaches from Sheffield United, this Thursday in PE. These sessions will continue until October half term.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend. See you next week.
