Friday 1st July

Friday 01 Jul 2016

What an exciting week we have had! On Tuesday we were given a special musical treat by our very own Y2 recorder players.  They have learned so much in such a short space of time.  Well done to you all and thank you for a wonderful performance!

As you know, this week was 'Enterprise Week' and the whole year group worked extremely hard to produce, advertise and sell our products for the market on Thursday.  It was a real success.  Many thanks to all parents and carers who attended, your support is much appreciated. A special mention goes out to Aleena and Tobias in Y2W and Sam B and Rufus in Y2WS for their impressive selling skills.  They worked to the bitter end and were determined to sell as much as possible!   Here are some photographs of us preparing for yesterday's market!

We have now finished our spelling tests for this academic year due to transition next week and it being the last day of term the following week.  Your child has previously been given a copy of the Y2 common exception words which they need to be able to read and spell.  If they can already do this, they were sent home, a few weeks ago, with a copy of the Y3/Y4 list of common exception words.  It would be beneficial if your child could learn these (or some of these) over the holidays.  If you have mislaid them, please feel free to come in and ask for another copy.

We will be making our carnival masks and instruments next week.  Many children have still not brought in a cereal box or dry, plastic bottles with lids.  Please provide your child with these on Monday.  If you have any spares, we would be grateful if you could send them in!

Sadly, we have had to cancel Infant Sports Day on Monday 4th July, due to the current condition of the school field.  The recent, heavy rainfall has left areas of the field waterlogged and unusable.

The Y2 camp is fast approaching so hopefully it will stop raining soon!  Eeeeeek!  Early next week we will be speaking to the children about their tent buddies.  There will be a maximum of five children per tent.  The scouts are kindly lending us ten tents but we will need a couple more.  If anyone would be happy to let us borrow a tent that would be great!  Please see/speak to your child's class teacher.

Next Thursday and Friday are our transition days, where your child will get to spend time in their new classroom, with their new teacher.  End of year reports will be given out next Friday, 8th July.

Have a lovely weekend
