Friday 20th January

Friday 20 Jan 2017

The children have been working hard again this week!

In Literacy, we have been studying the main features of a letter and have looked at the language and layout of letters in our class book 'Dear Teacher' by Amy Husband.
In the book, the main character, Michael, has plenty of excuses as to why he is late for school. We had fun thinking of our own elaborate ideas! We then planned and drafted our own letters to a teacher, remembering to include an address, the date and of course a P.S! The children edited and made improvements to their own work, using a green crayon and even swapped and offered advice to each other. The final drafts look fantastic and the children should feel extremely proud of themselves.

In maths, we have tried to master division and work out tricky word problems involving multiplication and division. This is something you could try to do at home with your child.
E.g. Dad is doing the washing. He has 50 socks. How many pairs of socks does he have?

If Grace split 23 lollies equally between 5 of her friends and kept the ones she couldn't share equally for herself, how many lollies did each friend get?
How many did Grace eat?

In computing, we have been creating graphs by inputting given data.

In music, we have been singing songs, rapping and learning how to play the glockenspiel.

Have a lovely weekend!
