Thursday 13th October
Thursday 13 Oct 2016
This week we are learning how to write recounts in Literacy. We have talked about writing in the past tense, using conjunctions (joining words - and, or, so and but) and time words. We are going to have a special visitor next week and the children will be writing a recount based on this visit.
In maths we are continuing our work on addition and subtraction. Your child needs to know number bond pairs to 10 and 20. We have endeavoured to publish the first set of homework on Education City. Hopefully your child will be able to access this at home. We will be setting homework every Friday and would like it to be completed by the following Friday. After half term, we will be grouping the children and setting differentiated tasks but for now we would like them all to just have a go at the activities set. We estimate that children spend approximately 30minutes a week on Education City. They are, of course, welcome to spend longer if they are having fun!
Mrs Iosson has requested that every child brings in a clean, dry plastic bottle and an odd sock if possible. This is for a science project next week all about recycling. A letter will be sent home explaining more.
Tomorrow is a non-uniform day for any children who bring in a 'jolly jar'.
A little reminder that next Friday (21st Oct) is a staff training day and children should not attend school.
We have had a lovely time baking our bread this week. We hope it tastes as good as it looks. Have a good weekend.
