Evacuee Day
Friday 15 Jan 2016
Well it has been a really exciting week in Year 4!! The children have worked hard and finally our Evacuee Day arrived. The children looked amazing in their war time clothing (thank you parents) It was so cold waiting for the evacuation train to arrive, well done for staying to wave them off grown ups! The children were all sent to their safe haven around the school and I'm sure they will fill you in on the time they had there. At lunchtime they all sat together to eat their wartime lunch. Lots of brown paper and cheese sandwiches.
In literacy we have been writing character descriptions of people who were affected by the war and the children have done a brilliant job using lots of powerful verbs and adverbs.
In maths we have been learning all about fractions, the numerator and the denominator and how we need to look carefully at them to see what the WHOLE ONE has been divided into. We will be carrying on with fractions next week.
In science the children made circuits using wires, bulbs, buzzers and cells. The children were amazing at this, I think we have some budding electricians in Y4!!
During art lessons we have been making silhouette pictures of the blitz using pastels and black card. The pictures are looking fabulous and the children have taken great care in cutting out their silhouettes.
Have a wonderful weekend and thank you for all your hard work this week.
