Merry Christmas To All Our Year 4 Pupils and Parents

Friday 18 Dec 2015

Yo Ho Ho!

It's finally arrived. The Christmas break is here. The children have worked really hard this term and deserve a well-earned rest. Thank you for all your support and help this term, particularly for encouraging your child to do their homework.

It's been an amazing term with Roman Day, Science of Sound workshop, swimming lessons, animation, show performances and rehearsals for Young Voices. Phew! So much has been packed in. Yesterday's party was a fitting celebration of a fun and successful 14 weeks.

We are looking forward to next term and our new Second World War topic. Please ask your child to talk to elderly relatives over the holidays to see if they have any memories from the war years. Also it would be great if you could hunt out any memorabilia your family may have from the time. Each week we shall give the children the opportunity to bring things in to share with each class. There will be an evacuee day in the second week next term and we shall be sending out a letter for this when we get back.

The new yellow spelling homework books have gone home and your child should bring their book back on the first Monday after the holidays ready for the test and to have their sentences marked. It will take a while to get used to the new system but we feel confident it will help children to retain their spellings and use them in their writing.

Finally, we would just like to say a big farewell to Mrs Whitehouse. It has been a pleasure to work with her for this past term and we are really sorry to see her go. We wish her all the best in her new position and look forward to her coming  back to see us whenever she can. She will be missed. However, we are pleased to welcome Mrs Baker to the team.

Have a happy and joyful holiday. Don't eat too many mince pies.
