Welcome Back Everyone

Friday 08 Apr 2016

It was great to see everyone back fit and well this week after all the bugs circulating last term. Must have been all the Easter eggs which helped. We hit the ground running this week with new topics in Literacy (Explanations) and Maths (Perimeter and Area). Our new maths topic proved tricky for some as it is the first time we looked at it this year but the children worked really hard and applied themselves and we're pleased to say by Friday we were making good progress. Please ask your child to go into topic bank on Maths Whizz if they want to practice perimeter and area further.  Also remind them to get back into the routine of doing Maths Whizz as we need to get those all important 30 minutes a week in the bag. It might be a good idea to move to 45 minutes now as this is the expectation in Y5.

We have sent a letter home about our forthcoming visit to the Lord Mayor's parlour a week on Monday. We are very excited about this and it would be great if parents could discuss possible questions the children could ask the Mayor. We shall also be visiting the Millennium Galleries as part of our trip to find about Sheffield's industrial legacy and heritage. Please return reply slips and bus fare as soon as possible so we can work out the number of adult helpers needed. Please see your child's class teacher if you can possibly help.

Don't forget we shall be holding the Thornbridge Parents Meeting after school on Tuesday in Mrs Heap's classroom. Please try and attend if it is the first time for your family.

Have a lovely weekend.
