An Action Packed Week!
Thursday 23 Jun 2016
After an unusual start to the week, we have been very fit and active in Year 5. We continued our '10 minutes a day' runs each day, with the children running circuits of the field for 10 minutes. Most of the children endeavoured to improve the number of laps they completed each time.
On Wednesday, 30 of the Y5 children also took part in a cricket festival. Each of the three teams played well and worked brilliantly as teams supporting and encouraging each other. Whilst this was going on, the children back at school carried out some unusual tasks. One included building a tower out of spaghetti and marshmallows! On Thursday it was Sports Day and the children excelled in all areas and demonstrated super team spirit and support. It was a wonderful afternoon and linked perfectly to this half term's Olympic and carnival topics. For some of the children, the day didn't end there. After taking part in a heat earlier in the term, some of the children qualified and took part in the Sheffield Schools City Athletics Finals. Every child that took part pushed themselves and improved on their previous performance and they should all be very proud of themselves.
We also wanted to let you know that on Friday July 1st Bradway Primary school will be hosting a race track day for Key Stage 2 children in Years 3 - 5. Classes will work on team building exercises as well as learning about engineering skills and remote control cars. There is no cost for this day and we are hoping it will give children an insight in to the world of engineering while developing their skills in construction and problem solving. Year 5 will have their sessions on Friday morning.
Finally just a reminder that it is Enterprise Week next week. The Street market will be next Thursday from 2-4pm and you should have been sent a letter about it via parent pay.
Have a lovely weekend.
