Boxing Clever!

Thursday 22 Sep 2016

Well what a busy week in Y5!! We have been concentrating hard in Literacy trying to build up our sentences using noun phrases and expanded noun phrases then adding adventurous vocabulary and similes. The children really enjoyed the Where's Wally pictures and describing a character from them!

Maths has been continuing to use, investigate and apply place value knowledge to a variety of problems. We have been looking at a number and what it is made up of as well as the value of the digits, moving from 1s, 10s and 100s to 1000s. Our brains have hurt!!!

In P.E we doing Combat dance and the children had to create their own routine using some of the moves they have learned. Lots of jabs, hooks and ducks were seen in the hall. They have also practised some throwing and catching skills in preparation for Tag Rugby.

This week in music we had our first session listening to Journey and Don't Stop Believing (Sorry!) It was amazing how many children knew the words!! We will be looking more into this song over the next few weeks.

Topic has been all about working on posters to present lots of interesting Mayan facts the children have found out. They are really enjoying the topic and have found some great facts about the Mayans and how they lived. This Friday they will be presenting their posters to the rest of the class.  Then in science, the children ran round the school grounds collecting facts about the planets.

Thank you for all your support this week.

Have a lovely weekend.

The Year 5 team.
