Getting creative
Friday 27 Feb 2015
After a busy week of reflective symmetry, translation of shapes and diary writing, this afternoon took a more creative turn. Y5C embarked upon an art afternoon in which children had the chance to let their artistic juices flow.
In music, Y5SS travelled back to the 80s, enjoying the dulcet tones of the classic Journey song 'Don't Stop Believin'. Whilst listening to the song, we tried to establish its genre and the various instruments we could hear. After looking at the structure of the song and establishing the pulse, we began singing the first verse and pre chorus and added a small percussion group who tried really hard to maintain the steady beat. Some children have expressed an interest playing their musical instrument to accompany the class singing. There are music sheets available for this so please pop in and ask if your child would like a copy.
Finally, may we just remind you that next week is 'Bike it Week' where children and adults are being encouraged to travel to school on bikes or scooters. There will be a 'Bike it Breakfast' on Wednesday and Thursday is World Book Day. Please can we ask that children refrain from wearing football kits and that they choose a character from a book or a film based on a book.
Finally, a final finally!! Can we remind all children that their weekly homework includes 60 minutes of Mathswhizz, reading and spelling practice.
