Long multiplication + long division = a long time since we last blogged.

Dear Grown - ups,
My apologies for the lack of contact over the last couple of weeks. This is entirely my fault and is caused entirely by my forgetfulness (Mrs Roberts could take some of the blame for not reminding me, but it’s time I faced up to my responsibilities… Although, I do blame her a bit!).
Kind Regards,
Mr Lewis
The last 3 weeks have been fun filled. We began our new topic ‘Eyam and the plague.’ We have been researching different questions on the topic to create our own website. There has been a technical hitch with the actual uploading of the website, due to Mr Lewis being unable to control the adverts that appear. He is searching for a solution and will report with news of the web address as soon as this is sorted out.
In English we have been writing diary entries from the point of view of our new favourite anti-hero, Bradley Chalkers. The children have done brilliantly at this and continue to use more and more complex vocabulary, punctuation and sentence structure. The Y5 team couldn’t be more impressed. Well done Y5, keep up the good work.
In maths we have been revisiting the functions. Both classes have been working very hard with new techniques and with their mental skills. The children have risen to the challenge and Mr Lewis would like to give a special mention to Grace who asked for extra work to complete at home as she was struggling with long division in class. What a brilliant attitude to learning.
Finally, we have started our cricket topic in PE. As luck would have it Collegiate Cricket Club have invited us down on Monday for a cricket morning. We have accepted! We have been informed that SKY will be there and therefore we cannot guarantee that images of the children will not be used for promotional purposes by them, as the letter explained. However, other than that issue it seems that we will have a brilliant day and hope all the children can join us.
To be clear, the children are able to come to school in their PE kits and will remain in these all day. They do not need to get changed into their uniform when they get back to school.
They need a packed lunch and warm/waterproof clothing depending on the weather.
Thanks,
Y5 Team
