Read all about it!!

Well, another busy week in Year 5 this week. 
In English we have started our new text which is newspapers and journalistic writing. The children have looked at a variety of newspapers and found their key features. It was surprising how many of the children had never read a newspaper. First News, which you can buy from most supermarkets is aimed at children and is brilliant for giving them a different way to read. The children in class really enjoyed reading it and doing the puzzles. We also looked at how our faces can show emotion without any words. We used emojis and the children really enjoyed making lots of "emotional" faces. Take a look!






Maths has been all about solving word problems using bar modelling. If you get chance please let your child have a go on Thinking Blocks at home. It is available as an APP for I-Pads or you can just use a computer and play free online. It is a fantastic way of solving word problems and the children have done amazingly with it. If they could continue to use it at home they will become even more confident at solving problems.

In Topic, after presenting our explorer fact files, we have started to create a new creature. The children have had to think about what their creature looks like, lives, eats and what skills and defences they have. It should be very interesting when we start to make them!! Can't wait!



In PE we have started Bollywood dancing. Wow, what a fantastic group of buddying dancers we have in Year 5. Take a look at the pictures below!!
