Welcome Back!
Monday 07 Sep 2015
What a brilliant first few days. The Y5 children have really impressed us with their fantastic attitude to learning, they have also set a superb example on the play ground playing well with one another and lining up brilliantly, keep it up! We thought about what would make our classroom a great environment to learn in, from this each class came up with a class charter, which we have all signed and agreed to follow.
The children have now all completed their Maths Whizz assessments, so are now able to use it at home as much as they want, although we expect a minimum of one hour to be completed at home each week, 90 minutes altogether. If this is a problem for any pupils, please let us know and we can organise for your child to use the program at lunchtimes. The
children will be using the online ‘Accelerated Reader’ program within school this year and this will be used to monitor that reading is done at home on a regular basis. We are currently in the process of assessing all the children, once this is completed the children will begin to bring their reading books home. We hope that this will be by the end of the week.
This week the children will be covering place value in our maths lessons and have begun to read the gripping 'Stormbreaker' in English. We will also be launching our topic tomorrow, the Mighty Mayans.
We hope the rest of the week goes as well as the first few days.
