Spectacular Spectrums
Friday 11 Dec 2015
On Thursday, in science, we looked at the colour of light. Now, that may seem a little odd at first glance, however, we discovered that light is actually made up of the 7 colours of the rainbow - Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet (or ROY G BIV) for short.
When light enters a prism, it refracts (bends) and those different colours can be seen. This is due to the colours having different wavelengths. We examined this using torches and a dark classroom.
Then, we created our own colour wheels to show that when the ROY G BIV colours are blended together, they create a white - just like light!
