Weekly update

Monday 02 Oct 2017

It has been another busy week in Year 6. In science, we learnt about adaptations and how they lead to evolution using Darwin's bird beak example! We had a go at acting out the difference between beaks and the food birds can eat and found out that the same species can end up with variations based on where they live and the food available. Some have long, thin beaks to get food from small openings and holes and others have beaks like spoons to scoop from the water!
In maths, we are carrying on with calculations, with Mr Perkins's group moving onto multiplication and Miss Svoboda's to division.
In literacy, we had a week studying the poem 'Tyger Tyger' to tie-in with National Poetry Day and everyone had a go at creating their own rhyming stanza and acting it out. We were amazed at everyone's imaginations and how much you supported those who are more nervous when performing. Well done everyone.
In our topic lesson, we went on a hunt around the school grounds for information on the Ancient Greek city states which we then had to accurately place on a map.

Keep up the hard work everyone.
