Welcome to Y6!

Friday 09 Sep 2016

Well that's it. The end of your first week in Year 6. We hope you have enjoyed it as much as we have?
You have been a brilliant bunch this week - so polite, well-behaved and perhaps most importantly engaged thoroughly in your learning.
Keep up this fantastic attitude and we're sure you are going to have a fabulous year!

In Literacy we have begun our Ancient Greek unit on Myths. We have completed noun phrase work based on the Trojan Horse and also used several
different myths to identify the features of myths for when we do our own versions.
Which did you prefer? Pandora's Box, Theseus and the Minotaur or Perseus and Medusa?
We also had the chance for some group work and discussions outside as part of the Literacy session, to develop our collaborative and reciprocal skills.

In maths, we have covered reading, writing and comparing numbers up to 10,000,000! This includes ordering decimal numbers as well!
The children also undertook an Arithmetic Quiz on Friday morning.

In science we began our unit on Evolution and Inheritance and our art-based topic enabled us to see Greek pottery and to begin to design the pots the children
will be making later in the term.
